According to NBA sources, the Cavs are attempting a three-team between the Pacers and Nuggets for the services of Paul George.

George has already made his intentions known that the 2017-18 season will be his last in Indiana. George is planning to join the Lakers after the season.

The Cavs would probably have to give up Kevin Love to Denver, while Indiana would receive draft picks. Other players have been mentioned, but the biggest two names are Love and George.

How does this trade help Cleveland:

  1. It gives Cleveland one of the best two-way players in the game, a hybrid between LeBron and Durant

  1. LeBron can facilitate while George and Irving handle the scoring duties.

  2. LeBron can move down into Love's power forward spot, prolonging his career.

How does this trade hurt Cleveland:

  1. George is only in town for one year. He plans to join the Lakers.

  1. Kyrie and LeBron may not be around after 2018. LeBron will be a free agent and can easily join the Lakers who will have the cap space.

  2. The Cavs would go over the cap to keep their new Big 3.

If owner Dan Gilbert feels that this may be his last shot at a title, why not go all in? If I was GM, I would make the deal.
